HELLO, we are Ann & Doug Palmer, active, non-smoking, retired hoteliers & directors. We were in business in Spain, where we lived for several years, and, for the last five, we have been here in Brittany where we have our main home and a holiday cottage.

Brittany is a beautiful, unspoiled part of France. There are no yobs, no muggings, no vandalism but many lakes, rivers & woodlands. Sorry - no discos!

Our holiday cottage is on the river at Port de Pontrieux. Many yachts from Europe & UK moor up here during the winter as safe anchorage is guaranteed by the sea lock. They are joined by many other touring craft during the spring and summer. Several good restaurants line the opposite bank and there is a station from where the preserved steam railway runs down to the coast at Paimpol during the summer months. A horse-drawn charabanc takes tourists into the charming, medieval town of Pontrieux - a 10 minute walk. The cottage is bout 7 km from the “Pink Granite Coast” with its many pretty harbours and wide, sandy beaches. It is good walking country. Pontrieux is a bustling little town with all the usual shops plus boutiques and art galleries. It is situated some 10 kms. from the main RN12 axial route, at Guingamp. There are ferry ports at Roscoff (1 hr 30 mins) and St Malo (2 hrs.). Airports at Brest & Dinan.

The cottage is double-glazed and has central heating. Being only 20 metres from the river it has very attractive views, particularly from the large conservatory. The accommodation is on two floors. There are two double bedrooms, small study & toilet on the first floor; on the ground floor a sitting room, fully fitted kitchen, shower room, toilet and conservatory. The kitchen is fitted and has a full gas cooker, microwave, fridge/freezer and washing machine. There is a garage suitable for a modest size car but most “riverains” prefer to use the off-road parking provided by the commune. There are lots of books, satellite TV, BBC radio, VCR + tapes etc.

Our preferred destinations are Spain, Portugal, south of France & UK but we are open to suggestions. Sorry - long-haul flights are not possible. Car exchange can also be arranged. More information & photos will be sent on request.
