Martha's Vineyard is located seven miles off the southern coast of Cape Cod. The island is easily accessible by several ferry companies that carry cars (by reservation) and passengers (no reservation req'd.) and by major airlines. Our home on Martha's Vineyard is located in the elegant village of Edgartown. Noted as the whaling capital of the world in the early nineteenth century, Edgartown is now a major yachting center with yachts of all sizes visiting in a constant parade of sail. Our property is within a pleasant walk of the village center where you will find wonderful restaurants and elegant shops clustered along the edge of a quintessential New England harbor. The Vineyard is the vacation destination of some of the most notable people in the world who could vacation in any location in the world, but choose to return time and again to this enchanted island. Challenging ocean-front golf, sport fishing, sailing, wildlife conservation areas, bird watching, the most beautiful warm-water beaches in southern New England, world-class shopping and art galleries catering to the most discriminating tastes are all immediately available on Martha’s Vineyard and close to our home. The season to visit Martha’s Vineyard is anytime from May through late October. September and October are particularly special times with warm clear days and cool breezy nights. Our property is located down a private and quiet country lane and consists of a main house and a guest house located on a half acre that is completely landscaped with flowering plants, stone-walled patios and lush lawns. The houses were designed in the classic American shingle-style with pronounced Asian influences evident in the pagoda-shaped architecture and in the exquisite oriental landscaping. These houses are not your average Cape-Cod cottage they are exciting, interesting, inspiring, gracious and fun to live in. The main house contains a first-floor master bedroom with queen-sized bed and full bath, two sky-lighted second-floor bedrooms with twin beds and bath, a tree-top-level study with balcony on the third level, kitchen, large great room furnished with a dining table for eight and comfortable overstuffed furniture for relaxing. The charming guest house is connected to the main house by an arbored walkway and contains a bedroom with twin beds, a bathroom, an efficiency kitchen and a living room with two loveseats that convert to twin beds. The guest house is so practical for when the kids visit and need their own space. We can also arrange for your use of a car, and, if you have experience, a small sailboat and/or a motorboat. We can also accommodate your yacht on our mooring with launch service in Edgartown Harbor. This is our vacation home, so exchanges do not have to be concurrent. We are interested in homes of at least equal quality and distinction in warm-weather locations during Christmas/New Years, winter or early spring. Florida, Arizona, Hawaii, Southern California, Bermuda, US Virgin Islands, Tuscany and South of France are locations of interest, but we’ll consider others as well. Homes with a direct golf connection are of extra special interest. Smoking is allowed on the patio. Pets considered on circumstances. You will not be disappointed with an exchange of your special property for ours. Email us for more pictures. |
