Hi! I’m a retired high school English teacher, and my wife teaches ESL (English as a Second Language). We live in Toronto, in a comfortable detached house between friendly neighbours on a quiet street in the Oakwood Village area of Toronto. We’re on the fringes of downtown Toronto, so we have easy accessibility to just about everything, but avoid the congestion. We use the TTC (public transport) most of the time: two bus routes (bus stop almost at the door) give us easy access to the subway system. The nearby natural environment park has cycling/walking paths, & in fact you can walk to the nearest subway station through the park. We’re within walking distance of two main avenues (St. Clair West & Eglinton West) with many restaurants, etc. The house sleeps four people; it has living room, dining room, spacious kitchen, three bedrooms (one currently a study), two bathrooms, and a small garden with a walk-out deck (covered by a grape vine). Also most of the usual amenities: computer(s) w/internet access, cable TV, VCR, DVD, dishwasher, microwave, washer & dryer, gas BBQ.We’d prefer a car exchange. We have a 1994 Ford Tempo (standard shift) in good condition (easy access by expressway to the 401, the major Ontario highway).
We have a fairly elderly cat (Sophie) who comes & goes via the cat door & is generally self-sufficient, although she’d like you to feed her! Toronto is a clean and safe city (Canada’s largest), with lots to do and see: great theatre, many museums and galleries, a super zoo, CN tower, etc. We love its multiculturalism (it is considered the world’s most multicultural city), which means a great diversity of food, both in the restaurants and in the stores, & masses of free entertainment from different cultures. Plus we have major league baseball, hockey & basketball. Close enough for day trips are Niagara Falls, Kingston & the 1000 Islands, New York State, and two world-class theatre festivals, Shakespeare at Stratford and Shaw at Niagara-on-the-Lake. Attractions a little further afield include Ottawa & Montreal. Open to offers from anywhere in the world. In mind at present are Australia, New Zealand, United Kingdom, Spain, but make us an offer! Because Silvia is still teaching, we're free especially in July and August, but we're interested in any period of the year if the offer is good enough! |
