How do I make changes to my present listing?

You can make changes regarding your present listing instantly, online. You can change your e-mail address or password, add a picture, or your home page, or list your second home at no extra cost. To modify your current listing, please click on "Update your listing" on the side bar of the page and follow the instructions to make your changes. Please note: To add a picture, you must have the picture file on your computer in order to upload the file to your listing.

You can add a picture to your listing, instantly, online. What if I do not have a picture on my computer?

Most local photo developers can digitize your photograph and put it on a disk that will allow you to upload it from your computer to our web site online. They will charge you 3 or 4 dollars for the service. If you prefer, you can mail your photograph to us and we will do it for you free of charge. Unfortunately, we will not be able to mail your picture back to you.

I have a new computer and my welcome page does not automatically come up, like it did on my old computer?

You must have cookies enabled on your new computer, in order for our computer to remember you.

How do I update my e-mail address?

To change your e-mail address you must first sign in, using the same e-mail address you originally registered with. Then click on "Update your listing" on the Side Bar of the page and follow the instructions to make your changes.

Do you edit the listings?

No. What you put in is what others see. We suggest that you make up your listing on a word processor or your e-mail program, then cut and paste your listing in the form provided on our website. This will allow you to check your spelling and spacing, etc, before you submit it.

Why am I getting few replies to my listing?

You should review your listing. It may need updating, as to dates, destinations, etc. Please do not wait for others in the exchange to contact you. If you see an exchange that interests you, just click on the highlighted e-mail address and send a message expressing your interest for an exchange. Also, In order to better present your ad, you should write also a few words about yourself. You can also write a "catchy" heading for your ad.

Quite often when I e-mail a member I get my e-mail returned?

Unfortunately, many members take off on a vacation and cancel their e-mail account until they get back, or change their e-mail address and forget to update their address until they are ready for their next exchange. For the sake of other members, please keep your E-mail address up to date. (Remember, You Membership is for more than one year!)

Is there anything I should not include in my listing?

Yes, Your membership is either for 3 years or a Lifetime. Unless you have a specific need to be somewhere at a special time, avoid putting the year in your listing. For instance, If you like to travel in December, don't include the year. Otherwise many members will think you are not interested in exchanging next year.

How long does it take to arrange an exchange?

That is completely up to the members involved, Some like to plan far ahead of their vacations, others can take off on a moments notice.

Do you have any suggestions on how to best arrange an exchange?

No. As our members are a mature group, we hesitate to give general advice, other than to practice prudence, as in most things in life. However, for peace of mind, Feedback from our members suggest it's a good idea for members to communicate by e-mail a few times and follow up with an exchange of telephone conversations, pictures, etc.

How private is the Seniors Home Exchange?

For your privacy, Seniors Home Exchange provides the directory only as a source of reference. All arrangements are made privately by the concerned parties and you yourself choose who you want to exchange visits or homes with.

I sold my second home, How do I delete my second listing?

To delete one of your listings, please click on "Update your listing" on the side bar; from the list of your homes (below your address & contact information) select the "update" link next to the listing you would like to delete. Then, on the page that comes up, check the box "delete this listing" and click "Change" button.
