I am a graduate student (clinical social work) looking for a house exchange with someone from the DC area, who would like to spend 8 months (or less, depending on what we might work out) on quiet sabbatical in our lovely furnished home in a beautiful rural VT village, very close to Dartmouth College (NH) and the VT Law School. My husband and I could then live in your home or apartment while I pursue a field placement for my graduate study from Sept 1, 2010 to April 30, 2011 in NW DC. This is not my first career, so do not worry about us having any wild parties! We are responsible, honest and mature people looking forward to time in our nation's capital and living a "city pace" for a little while. Ideally, we would like to bring our well-behaved dog with us, but we are aware not everyone likes visiting pets. I would also like to be close to public transportation.
Our home sits in a meadow with woods and a lovely brook alongside it. A swimming hole, perennial gardens, fruit trees and a vegetable garden await you. The house is furnished and cozy, with easy access and views of hills and valley farms. We have 3 bedrooms, 2.5 baths, a study, LR and an open kitchen/family/dining room. Our village store houses a post office and a bank. There are lots of cultural happenings in town and within easy driving range (Hanover NH, Montpelier and Burlington, VT), along with hiking and cross-country skiing out the back door and downhill skiing or kayaking/canoeing less than an hour's drive away. A fabulous spot in an active and lovely community!
